eating at the oasis

Here at the oasis with dan and Nancy. Jordan is getting to eat before us. A few boats on the lake but it is 100 already.

heading home tommorrow.

Well, in about 7 hours we are going to take Jordan to the east coast to get his feet wet there. Two coasts in less than a month. Pretty neat in my mind for such a tiny guy.

The service for my grandmother was very nice and my grandfather got to meet Jordan for the first time. Jordan was very nice and tried to offer his binky to him and his great grandfather didn't want it. It was nice because Jordan is the first great grandson that will carry on my grandfathers last name. My dad got some pictures of the two of them which is really nice.

I will post more the next two days on the trip back.

made it to Virginia.

My family and I have made it to Virginia. It took about 24 hours to drive from Dallas. Not bad timing at all. Jordan and Connor were very happy to be out of the car at my uncle Hal and Linda's house they started to wrestle. I posted some pictures to the gallery and maybe tomoorow I'll put them on the front page.

Time for sleep. Busy day tomorrow.

Jordan chasing Connor. Ok maybe not chase but grab as Connor crawls past him...

Connor keeping Jordan down. Jordan needs to hit the weights as the older cousin is getting the better of him!

breaking trends.

Well, erica is going to drive and let me catch some shut eye. We are about 35miles into NC so I won't be able to do the 186 update. Sorry. We just ate lunch at subway after driving a great winding highway road in the smokey mountains. Really great views. Lots of green trees. And erica loves the flowers on the side of the road.

Anyways nap time.

Keith

186??? why this mile?

Well in another state on I 40 and guess what? Another mile marker 186. This one is about 20 miles west of Nashville. Can't see any stars as it's too cloudy and the closest star to us is drowning them out. If you don't know what that means, then you haven't seen a sunrise.

I like this area as trees line the highway. And it's very hilly. We actually stopped for dunkin donuts.

Keith

mile 186 east I 40

Similar to the Texas exit with weather. Since I did not stop I had to look at the stars through my bug covered windshield. It is near de valls bluff Arkansas. No exit here though. And not a very big town at all. Just a few building lights scattered between the trees.

Jordan is apparently going to talk in his sleep. Not really. Just some whimppers in his sleep.

Time to focus on the road again.

Keith

exit 186 Texas i35

Out on the road again. Exit 186 on I 30 east in Texas. Not a thing out here. Yet there is an exit for nothing. Good place to get out and stretch my legs while Jordan gets changed.

No cities means tons of stars. What a great night for driving. Time to start driving some more.

World Community Grid Launches Influenza Antiviral Drug Search

World Community Grid Launches Influenza Antiviral Drug Search

"World Community Grid is pleased to announce the launch of the Influenza Antiviral Drug Search project by Dr. Stan Watowich and his research team at The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, Texas, USA). They are collaborating with researchers from the Galveston National Laboratory at UTMB (Galveston, Texas, USA) for testing of drug candidates. The mission of the Influenza Antiviral Drug Search project is to find new drugs that can stop the spread of an influenza infection in the body. The research will specifically address the influenza strains that have become drug resistant as well as new strains that are appearing. Identifying the chemical compounds that are the best candidates will accelerate the efforts to develop treatments that would be useful in managing seasonal influenza outbreaks, and future influenza epidemics and even pandemics."

California...

It is a very nice and sunny day in California today. We have made it here safely yesterday evening and were able to meet up with Matt & Sam's families for dinner. Hopefully Erica and I will be able to update this more later with the fun things that are explored during this trip.

Jordan Update

So I have gotten some new pictures of Mr. Jordan up in the gallery. Since the last post, Jordan has been to the airport to meet Alex, gotten baptized, has started rolling over (at this point, he is just rolling to the right and back, but it is progress), gone for his 4 month check up where he weighed 14 lbs, 11 oz and is in the 90th percentile for height. He has slept through the night, but is back to waking up...keep your fingers crossed he'll be sleeping through the night again soon! :) Jordan is amazing! He is growing up so fast! Enjoy the new pictures!

New Pictures

Jordan is AWESOME!!! He is growing like a weed and was happy to sleep in his own room for the first time last night. He did great. I will admit it was hard for me to make the step from having him in our room, but I know it is good for us and him. Maybe we all slept a little better for it?

Sweet Baby Jordan

Sweet baby Jordan is peacefully sleeping...for now. He is truly a blessing for me and Keith. He is starting to settle down a little on feeding. Last night he went for a record 6 hours of sleep before waking to be fed again. Then, two hours later, he was ready for more. Hey, at least I got a 6 hour break!

Moved in to the new house

With the help of our families, Erica and I have moved into our new house in Mansfield, Tx. So far we are enjoying it very much as it has lots of space for us to roam around. I definitely enjoy my media room as everyone probably already knows that. My office is set up at the moment with an out door patio table. This is actually working out to my benefit as it holds the server very nicely and flat. Jordan and Erica went for a walk around the neighborhood for the first time and he went to the store today. This is a good sign as it means there is life outside of the house :) Thank you again to everyone that helped us with the move because we definitely had more stuff than we imagined...

Jordan is sound asleep at the moment :) and I believe Erica is also checking for light leaks in her eye lids.

More baby pictures

I have added some more pictures into Jordan's gallery. Click here These are mostly images from the hospital time when he was being born :) Pretty neat to look at these pictures and remember how quickly things progressed. Jordan is still healthy. He eats, sleeps, and dirties his diaper...a full day in his mind.

Home Sweet Home

Erica, Jordan and I were finally able to be released from the hospital this evening. Dan and Nancy stayed with us the entire afternoon and helped release a lot of the worry with the joking and conversations. My annex of the Uplinger family is extremely blessed to have such a great support group of family members on both sides. I am unsure how others have done it without their own family groups supporting them through the process.

Jordan did get a clean bill of health and when we got him home, he made his entrance known with a dirty diaper! And for everyone who wants to know, yes I did help change the diaper multiple times! hehe. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to upload more of the images from the camera to the website for everyone to view. Time to get back to heating up some dinner for Nancy, Erica, and I.

Update about Jordan

Everything appears to be going well with Jordan. We are in the hospital for another night since the 48 hour period they like to monitor the baby will be at 2am. They should be releasing us if all looks well with him. I have posted a few more pictures taken from my iPhone. I have can't upload the pictures taken from my dad's camera because I forgot the cable that connects to the computer. Erica is doing well and we have been able to walk around the hallways so that she does not feel confined to this huge closet. Anyways, to get to the pictures you can click on the gallery link at the top and then on Jordan's album! Thank you everyone who has called us/emailed us/or visited us over the past few days. These have meant a lot to both Erica and I.

Baby Jordan Gerald Uplinger has arrived!!!

Baby Jordan Gerald Uplinger has arrived and is 8 lbs 5 oz at birth. He was 21 inches long and has some long brown hair. He and Erica are doing wonderful at the moment and he looks like a stud! Anyone with baby girls need to watch out when he turns 16. Fair warning :) I have posted only a few pictures at the moment that were taken off my phone to the website. The link is provided below. We thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts. We will try to keep everyone posted as things happen.

Texas Tech beat UT!

Title says it all. That was a great play at the end of the game to win the game. Mack Brown said it right that the team with the ball at the end of the game would win the ball game. The main problem with ESPN is that they don't like teams that aren't big schools. Texas Tech gets no respect from the USC loverboys at ESPN. For the longest time this season we have been ranked under USC because of ESPN's love for them. Finally Tech (who didn't lose to an unranked High School team) is going to be ranked above USC. Tech still has a lot to prove in the next few weeks but already ESPN is saying tech will lose. Did they not watch the same game that was on tv last night? My question is why won't tech jump to 1st place like UT did when they defeated the number 1 team in the nation before having to play OSU?

Two Weeks Out

Well, we are two weeks away from due date! I can't believe it is almost here! Keith and I went to our weekly doctor's appointment and having been surprised to hear last week that I had already dilated to 2 cm, today we were told I'd dilated to 3 cm. For those of you who haven't heard, the look on Keith's face when the doctor told us I'd already started dilating last week was priceless! I wish I'd had a camera to show you EXACTLY what I saw...classic! Guess Jordan will be making his grand entrance soon. We are getting ready with little things left to do to fully prepare and then we've always got packing that we can do when we run out of things to do for Jordan's arrival! :)

I feel pretty good, but I'm not nearly as comfortable any more. It is harder to fall asleep at night as my mind keeps going over all the things I think I need to do before delivery - although I know cleaning the baseboards in the garage isn't important. My hips are beginning to ache as does my back but I guess that's also a way for my body to tell me I need to settle down a little.

We'll keep you posted on any additional developments in the coming weeks!

Love ya,
Erica

Site maintenance again...

Another security fix was needed and the site is now fixed...only took 15 minutes

Preview of Jordan

Erica and I went to the doctor's office this morning for a sonogram and got some good pictures from the doctors. This is a picture of his foot...apparently he has 5 toes on it and it's big enough to kick Erica in the ribs often.

The next image is of Jordan giving the camera a kiss...he was sticking his tongue out and everything during the sonogram

New House

Well, Erica and I are now proud owners of a house. It is very cool and has a lot more space for our quickly growing family. My Dad and I were up there this past weekend painting the baby's new room and fixing some mortar on the outside wall that was damaged. Also we moved everything from the storage unit to the garage with the help of Dan which made things go a lot quicker and was a great help to me.

Updated website code

I have updated the website code...if you see anything let me know.

Funny Comic...

Ok, not much explanation needed here, but it's funny.

A few things...

So I've had my last day at HillCo (last Monday), welcomed Connor Allen Hall to the family, packed up some boxes (not to worry, my wonderfully fantastic husband loaded and unloaded them). We are working on the details on the house closing that is scheduled to happen on October 17 which seems to be going pretty smoothly...keep us in your prayers that things continue to go smoothly!

I have gotten to the point that I'm starting to be a little uncomfortable. I've been pretty lucky to have made it this far with little aches and pains so I'm not complaining. I am currently going to the doctor every two weeks and at the last appointment everything was on track and going as expected. Yea!

Y'all have a great day and week! - Erica
